I like it, but no more than any other FF place.

Chris

I agree with this statement, except in regard to cheesy fries and limeades.  =)

Sonic is also good for tater-tots. The tots aren't anything special, I just like having them as an alternative to fries.

Ditto on the thumbs up for cherry limeade. Good stuff.

The breakfast burritos are decent, too. Whataburger was better but lost the top spot years ago. No one does a really good breakfast burrito anymore. When I come to power, that will change.

I just like the Sonic ice.  Goes great with Dr. Pepper.  :)  I like listening to the radio at lunch as well.

Lately, if I go there, I normally get the popcorn chicken stuff.

IMO, Sonic is just fast food, but a tad different.  If you are looking something spectacular, you won't find it.

Down here, you should also try Whataburger.

Using Culver's restaurant finder, I discovered that I have a loose "Culver's Cordon" about my residence:
One 17mi to the E, one 17Mi NE, and one 17mi West.

It's called "triangulation."

I hope your DEW system is operational ...

So Whataburger still exists as a chain? They were in Calif when I was a kid, and when they opened they were the In and Out /Sonic/ placetogetyourburger of the time. Immensely popular, then just went away. I recall they were very picky about only using high grade meats and made jumbo sized burgers.

Carl's Jr FTW. Not only do they carry an oversized double chili burger with twice the cheese and eight slices of bacon on the everyday menu, they have the cohones to openly tell the food nazi's to "just get over it" Count me in!

We have a couple of Whataburgers. Not bad. In fact it's Downright tasty when part of a three AM burger run during an all night help-your-buddy-swap-the-engine-in-his-race-car thrash . It's a nice change from the warm beer and stale Cheetos.

Yup.  I frequented the "new" Whataburger in Melbourne, FL on several occasions.

But do they have a burger where you can taste the uh - what do they call that stuff?  Oh, yeah, the burger.  Do they have any burgers where you can still taste the burger?

I just like the Sonic ice.  Goes great with Dr. Pepper.

That's my wife's favorite too.  Regardless of what food she gets, she ALWAYS gets the Rt44 Dr Pepper.  She loves the ice they use.

She also likes the the tots with cheese.

3 pages and no mention of Checker's?  I love that place.  Best fast food burgers IMO, and their fries are outstanding, and their loaded fries are even better.  Here's a direct quote from their website: "Hot cheese sauce, creamy ranch dressing and bacon pieces make our famous fries down right legendary."  How can anything with all that on it not be delicious?

I can't believe you people went to a Sonic and did not order the Coney Island hotdog.  Trust me, it is worth the eat.  Me and some buddies would play 18 holes of golf and then retire to Sonic to eat coney islands and down a milk shake.  A cholesterol plop if ever there was one, but boy howdy was it good eatin'.

This man speaks truth.

I have had both Checkers and Sonic.

While hte Sonic *-limeades are good stuff, Checkers is far, far superior.

From reading all of these descriptions, the Seattle-area is sadly lacking in iconic fast-food chains.

We are lacking in all fast food. I read a story in Seattle Weekly a year or so ago pointing out that we have a few dozen (30 some iirc) name brand fast food joints, but a couple hundred places with "Teriyaki" in the name.

Oh, you mean Rally's?   =)  I've never seen a Checker's.  Where are they?

Two or three reasons, but I won't go into detail.

I'll bet they served bamboo in some way, shape, or form.

Whataburger can be really good, but the last time I got some it was not.  I had a Whatachicken that was like a rawhide chew between buns and onion rings that were old and soggy with grease.

Sonic is alright.  I haven't eaten any in a long time, but I always thought their burger meat was really plain tasting.  I liked the Fried Pickle-Os.

How close are you to Waynesville?  I see they have a Pony Express Pizza & Orientalfood you can try next.

If you find yourself in NC, a rather small chain called "Cookout" has good food at very good prices...I happened to discover these excellent little burger joints while on a trip to VA last May.
