TPC valve?  What's that?

The heater is in my laundry/utility room on the far west side of my house.  If the TPC valve is the copper one in the center with the funny lever on it, it vents outside.

The heater is probably 40 feet away from the warm tiles.

That's the one what keeps your heater from rocket-shipping through the roof!

They discovered it when they pulled up the glued carpet pad and the water started oozing out the crack it was covering.  =|

Yep, it t'weren't pretty. The floor covering guys had ripped up the old floor and got 1/2 done with layng down the floating wood floor before they noticed it. Water got all under the new flooring and everything.  =|

Depends on where you live I guess.  Temperature Pressure Relief Valve, Temperature Pressure Control Valve, Over-temperature Control Valve, Over Temperature Relief Valve, etc.

Looking around my place for that elusive second hot water circuit...

Maybe you have hot air heat? I did make clear that only houses with hot water (hydronic) heat have the two sets of pipes. (At least, I thought I made it clear.)

There is: Pressure relief valve. I'm pretty certain that's what they are referred to in the building code, so that's what they would be known as in most parts of the country.
