Blowing like crazy here today.  Supposed to be gusts to 55mph.

I imagine there will be some trees come down.

So we managed to get through yesterday, the day that had the worst of the weather, with only a single blip, and then today at 1:00PM a limb from an old oak falls across all of the power lines and takes them down.

They actually did a pretty good job of restoring power quickly. Had the tree limb cut up and off the road by around 3:00-3:30, and got the power restored by 4:15.

We only get trash pickup every other week, so we'd either have had to let it fester for a week and a half (next trash pickup is next Tuesday), or we'd have had to burn it. Far easier to just fill up a bucket out of the bathtub and use that water to flush with. ;)

For a limited time that bucket to refill the toilet tank will work.  But eventually, even if I still have enough water, that won't work any more.  Once the septic holding fills up you can't flush anymore until power is restored and the septic pump can empty the holding tank.

If it took that long for the power to get restored I'm pretty sure we'd transition to an outdoor latrine. So far we've only ever had to wait around 24 hours. Going by "if it's yellow let it mellow" rules, you don't have to flush too often.

What we really need to do is get a generator to run the pump and septic system...but the money hasn't really been there yet. :(

No such thing on our septic system.

Cut that maple down when I got home from work today.  Also replaced the pressure switch on the well pump since our water pressure has been pathetic for a few weeks.
