Winter is scotch on a rock. Got an open bottle of Oban right now.

Got a bottle of Oban 18 this past spring while in Oban.  I approve :D

The High West is currently my favorite non-scotch whiskey. I've had the double rye, rendezvous rye, and campfire. Campfire is my favorite  (rye, bourbon, scotch blend), followed by double rye. I'm a bit of an oddball in that I did not like the more expensive rendezvous rye.

Of the three bottles in the pic, The campfire has been hard to find locally, so I picked that up while I was there. The bourye has been impossible to find locally and I've always wanted to try it. The yippee-ki-ya just sounded interesting.

I really liked the saloon (even with the $18 burger). It was my first time in Park City. Reminded me of kind of a mix of Santa Barbara and Boulder. Including the crappy traffic!

Sooooo, you guys ruined California  and are now trying to ruin UT and you have the nerve to complain about the traffic?  LOL!   :P

I've been on two kicks lately, boiler makers with cheap bourbon and a good pilsner, or sipping away on Woodford Reserve.  If you are ever in Michigan Traverse City Whiskey is pretty darn good.

I sort of recently learned what those are. They sound really good.

Currently sipping on some Blue Sapphire Gin, neat. Don't have anything else to make a cocktail with it. lol

Get some Angostura bitters and make a "brown gin" cocktail.

BTW, Tullamore DEW in black coffee is a fine "morning" cocktail for early mornings at the beach. :D

I've actually never done alcohol in the morning coffee. Any other good mixes?

At camp, it was always Jamesons in the coffee, Tullamore is a new experience for me.

Not a cocktail, but I love a breakfast sammich (toast, eggs, bacon/scrapple, and cheese) washed down with a cold beer while camping.

Toddys are fantastic in winter. A really nice way to relax after a cold day. And they can do wonders if you have a cold.

My favorite...

1 T butter (bit more if you like)
2 T dark brown sugar
Nutmeg and cinnamon to taste

Add the above to a warmed mug and muddle together well.

Add 2 ounces of your favorite spirit (I like either dark rum or JD's Tennessee Honey)

Fill to the top with boiling water.

Stir to melt the butter and dissolve the sugar, and enjoy.

Gin and tonic or gin buck (sub ginger ale for tonic, and you have a gin buck), rum and coke, and the negroni are some of my preferred cocktails when I don't just want something straight to sip.

Some of the more pussified drinks are OK if you get the proper version instead of the adult slushy nonsense version concocted for teenage girls with fake ID's.

That is a hot buttered rum.

It's actually a hot buttered whatever the hell you want to put in it. It works fantastically well with whiskey, especially JD's Tennessee Honey, and it works really well with some of the liquors like Drambuie and some brandies, as well.

You just have to adjust the sweetness to match the sweetness of your chosen alcohol.

Another good one is hot cider with honey or brown sugar and a blast of fireball whiskey.
