This reminds me of the situation in Washington state, where the Republican Party picked Simi Bird to be the official Republican candidate for the upcoming governor election.  Apparently, Mr. Bird claimed training, awards, and badges that he never actually earned. https://mynorthwest.com/3961352/rantz-exclusive-semi-bird-reprimand-awards-badges-investigation-research/

Mr. Bird failed miserably in the primary, and Dave Reichert, a former King County sheriff who was instrumental in the search for the Green River Killer, will be the Republican candidate. I voted for him in the primary and will vote for him in the general election.

"A wise man once told me that one of the best ways to lie is to tell the truth - a carefully-selected small portion of the truth."

SOP.  Lying by inference.  We have a Dem candidate here who says she went against her own party in prevent fentanyl from entering the country, then a few lines later touts that she was "protecting our borders," which is a sure positive conservative trigger.

Well, half a truth is better than none.

Yes, lying by manipulation knowing full well people will jump to conclusions and believe the lie you didn't say.  Probably would legalistically claim they didn't actually lie.

Sort of why witnesses swear to "tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth" at least on TV.

Yep.  Mental KY.  They slip a concept into you without your realizing it.  Gotta be alert for that kind of crap... and remember, "The goal (power) justifies the method (lying, voting fraud, legal harassment of opponents...).

Yeah, and then the lawyers try to stop you. Literally.

I have appeared in court as an expert witness a few times. More than once, an attorney for the opposing side (meaning not the side who paid for my expertise) has asked me a question they really REALLY didn't want to hear the answer to, and tried to cut me off before I was finished speaking because what I was saying was harmful to their case. On at least two occasions, when the doofus attorney I was working for didn't object to such, I have turned to the judge and said something to the effect of, "Your honor, I just swore to tell the truth and the whole truth. I can't tell the whole truth if counsel for [___] won't allow me to finish my explanation. I didn't interrupt when he was asking the question, and I don't appreciate his interrupting when I'm trying to answer his question.""

I like that "I swore to tell the whole truth..." gambit.  How did it work out?

One time the judge admonished the attorney and told him to stop interrupting my answers. The other time the judge allowed the attorney to curtail my answers -- so I reverted to "Yes" "No" mode and made him drag out each bit of information.

Would "I believe I have the floor" and then continue answering the question over the top of the attorney's interruption also work?  The judge can tell you to shut up, the lawyer interrogating you can only request it.

I wonder what he thinks "candid" means.

It depends on what the meaning of "is" is.

Apparently his brother doesn't think much of him either. I'm guessing his brother won't be treated the same way by the media that Mary Trump has been.

From the link about Walz:

Quote
Exactly. It's that simple. Even the Kamala Harris campaign had to put out a Friday night news dump that admitted that Walz "misspoke" about having served in combat.

"Misspoke" is the euphemism for "lied." When Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal was called out for lying about his military record, he eventually admitted that he might have "misspoken."

Certainly could be BS.  But it could certainly be true given the man's absolute lack of character, his frequent trips to China, and contacts with fairly high ranking CCP affiliated people.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.
