If you're saying that people who have been convicted of violent crimes ought to be allowed to have firearms, I don't think you've lived in the world long enough yet.
Check your logic.
A convicted felon who has served his prison time is, once again, a free man. If he hasn't "paid his debt", why is he out of prison (note: I'm not talking about parole, nor am I a fan of parole)? If he still chooses to live a violent, lawless life, the prohibition on felons owning firearms is not going to stop him -

Those who state that felons who have served their prison time should not be allowed a choice to properly provide for their own protection are just as repugnant to civil rights and the Second Amendment as the rest of the gun control mob.
