McCain won in SC
« on: January 19, 2008, 05:05:40 PM »
McCain won SC.
Huckabee came in second, but conceded
Thompson came in third

Discuss amongst yourselves.

I agree.  All of them are nut cases.  And I hope that none of them are elected POTUS.

If any of those three gets the nomination, I will be campaigning against them.  Especially Thompson or Huckabee.  I fear the Christian Theocracy that Huckabee wishes to bring to us and the corporate government that Thompson would bring in.

Don't you mean Romney? Thompson is an actor who also happens to really know the Constitution.

So, you're voting Romney, Democrat or third party?

It makes no diff how I vote under this antiquated electoral college system. I live in CA, and those votes WILL go to the Dem.

The electoral college is not antiquated, and under a direct popular vote, you wouldn't make a difference, anyway. NY and CA would absolutely own every election if we voted under a direct popular voting system...

With the electoral college, smaller states like SC have a voice that matters, too.

Voting for president is already too much like a popularity contest- vote for whoever talks smoothest and promises the most to your interest group. No need to make it more so...

Let's not forget "McCain-Feingold"!

I'm proud of myself. When a Slick Willy from Arizona came to speak to the folks in the precinct I'm in on McCain's behalf, I managed to keep from loudly pronouncing that particular pattern of syllables. I probably should have, but IRON SELF-CONTROL prevailed. ;)
"Higher education" is often a euphemism for producers of fermented, homogenized minds.

It just comes to show that the real problem is the electorate, not the political system or the politicians. So long as socialist lying dirtbags like McKodos win anything by vote, the problem is the voter.

Riley, you need to spend more time reading the newspaper and less time here.  California's Electoral votes are no longer "winner take all"--the majority in each district wins the delegates.

It's too bad that I won't be able to vote for a Republican in the primary.  You see, the Retardicans are only letting registered Party members vote in their primary.  I swear, there has to be a conspiracy behind all this, because I simply can't imagine any politician being THAT dumb--deliberately shutting out independent voters, which are the MAJORITY in this state.  Nobody can possibly that obtuse.

Well, that's pretty stupid. Are the Dems doing the same?

I refuse to registar as a member of ANY party- I'm firmly independent, vote for the person, not their party. We have way too many people in my state that when it comes to an election, they will select straight party voting and not care who is actually running.

Voters not caring who they will vote for, just that they are voting for their favorite party are pathetic.

Of course not.  The GOP thinks they are going to get a lot of fence-sitters signing up, and they might.  I can just see anguished Paulistas arguing with themselves before the cutoff date  laugh

It's really just more self-sabotage, though.  California also has a large percentage of absentee voters, which means we mail it in.  I got a non-partisan ballot in the mail; no candidates, just state issues.  I can show up on polling day if I want, and cast a provisional vote--but even then the ballot I get will have only Independent candidates and Democrats on it.

Like I said--retarded.

What might be going on here is that the Repubs are worried that some libtards may pretend to be independent and try to push a candidate of their choice through the Repub primary. It is not unlikely, because it seems no matter who wins the nomination, it will be an Obama-Clinton ticket anyway. So, it does not matter to the libtards how they vote. Only hardcore social-democrat types among the Dems will really care to split the hair, but they are a minority.

The downside is that people like me that are registered as independents but vote Republican are essentially robbed of the ability to vote meaningfully in the primaries.

Just one more reason to like Tennessee.

Two full weeks of early voting, where there are no lines. You declare which party you want, but don't have to prove you are a member. I can stay an independent and still vote for whichever party I want.

I already voted. Go Thompson!

McHuckason will not be doing anything to derail that political locomotive that is set to run over us in the near future called the NAU. Nor the international criminal cartel called the "U.N."

Listening to the talking heads and other people promoting McHuckason, or Hillarak one would get the impression that rather than being oblivious to the coming NAU - they wholeheartedly support it.
