Viking:
Don't take this as as slap at your country, but do y'all have enough people to staff 300+ agencies?
On a more serious note, what proportion of the population works for the government? It must rival Washington, DC in the proportion of the workforce getting a paycheck from government.
Some of the agencies are small, probably meant mostly to give plush jobs to party comrades, or to appeal to the enviro-nuts (but our new government is cutting down on many of the more "eh, wtf, there's an agency for THAT? (comparative folk dancing - I *expletive deleted*it you not!)". Hopefully they'll get rid of as many of them as possible. Taken to the extreme, I figure we could do perfectly with 10-15 agencies...health, defence, police, school and a few other...
I'm not sure how who works directly or indirectly for the state...I'd wager there's quite a few...I can try to look it up.
Holy crap...figures I read says 204000 people employed by various gov't agencies...
