Talking to Calcutta...
« on: April 29, 2008, 03:33:15 AM »
in regards to one of my credit cards. What a hoot. I could tell by her accent so I asked where she was and she goes, "India"

I said, "I thought so. That's interesting, I don't talk to India very often. Where in India?"

Pause, "Well, we are in Calcutta."

So I said, "I hope to visit India some day".

She laughs, "So you have never visited India? You are certainly welcome."

I said, "Well, that's good to know."

She laughed again. So we go through the rest of the deal and she finally says, "Is there anything else I can do for you?"

I said, "Yes, what time is it in India? I'm just curious." She laughs, "Why, it's 6 PM."

She sounded kind of sad when we finally said our goodbyes.  laugh

Personally, I do not understand how a bunch of people demanding a bigger govt can call themselves anarchist.

OK.

That's more understandable, because isn't HSBC's parent corporation based in Hong Kong? They're truly a global financial services company.

Hell, if a name indicates location, I think they might have moved my office to the sub continent while I wasn't looking...

The last time I talked to a person in India, he went by "Elvis".

Just imagine the Indian accent, "Hello, my name is Elvis".

Would this fact somehow relate to your other thread?

I'm surprised she revealed her location.  I called a support hot-line once, when my computer was moving very slowly.  I tried to make small talk, while we waited for the computer.  I asked him where he was located, and he told me he couldn't say.  Didn't mind telling me how the weather was over there, though.   smiley

Whenever I'm pretty sure I'm talking to a different country I always ask them where they are. They always tell me, some hesitate like she did but I think it's more that they don't usually get asked that so it catches them off guard. I've talked to people in Manila a few times trying to straighten out my DSL and that's always fun cause I've been to the PI so I can ask them pertinent questions like "How's the San Miguel, I really miss it."  laugh
