Call it the CBS News effect.

Make up a story and then do everything you can to keep it going.

Take two people with lackluster media careers. They see what happened with CBS. They think it's a way for them to get some attention. They have no concern for the consequences of their actions.

I don't buy that the guy was an innocent dupe in all this. He was in it up to his eyeballs.

I read another article about it. Although all involved parties say they were trcked by the others, my guess is it was for publicity. The woman is a studying to be a writer and I think she wanted a big story to get her carrer started.
