It may be the Zeitgeist is behind Barack Obama, that he is simply the vehicle of forty-plus years of accumulating social and moral chaos in this nation, but the least we should expect from McCain is that he fight the good fight and go down honorably in defense of the right principles.
I'm not seeing that. Obama should be called out, hard, on so many things, but instead McCain hangs back, neither attacking Obama hard enough where he's vulnerable nor presenting a clear, compelling set of policies for the voters who have built and will sustain this nation. He might start with tax policies that preserve the American middle class and aid, especially, the small business owner. Taxes need to be lowered across the board. Savings and investing need to be encouraged--drop the inheritance tax altogether, eliminate capital gains taxes and double taxation on dividends. Privatize, in whole or in part, Social Security. If you want to help families, help the productive individual first.
McCain's campaign should be about energy, but about American energy, not just drilling. If he tries to come off as Obama's older white cousin, he's a sure loser.
