Wow. EA rips off LOTR. Only with silly-looking and completely impractical armor on characters.

Nice redux of the breaking of Minas Tirith's gate from Return of the King. Then some bullet time from Matrix. How many minutes did it take them to think up that?

EA can't do ANYTHING original. I think their execs' pointy little heads would explode if they tried.

Silly-looknig impractical armor is in keeping with Warhamer canon, Maned.

Warhammer started out as fantasy tabletop skirmish/miniatures game. Warhammer 40,000 is a similar game by the same company, set in SPAAACE.

All the characters, models, etc. are designed to look better on the tabletop, not to be realistic.

This leads to, for example, 'space marines' in brightly colored powered armor, horse cavalry in the age of the future, and so forth.

This, ladies and gents, is WH40K cavalry, known as the 'Rough Riders'.

Yes, these are FLAMETHROWERS they're toting.

What?!  You mean the dragons and elves and imps aren't realistic?

That's just cheap.  EA shoulda made them look the way they do in real life.

They could have at least have gone for motion capture, rather than the lousy jerky motion exhibited in that clip.

But then, EA, number one producer of shovelware, never spends a dollar when they can spend a nickel.

I dunno, that was a pretty slick little video.  It may not have the production quallity of a hundred million dollar Hollywood movie, but it that doesn't mean it was cheap or easy to do.

Watch stuff made by Blizzard. Even the intro to the old Diablo 2 had more artisanship than that.

This isn't an EA issue. Mythic Entertainment picked up the Warhammer MMORPG license and announced it was starting work on it a year before EA purchased them.

As far as the chronology of ripoffs goes, it's LotR > Greyhawk > Warhammer > Everyone Else. Amusingly enough, Blizzard flat out ripped off the setting and visual style for two of their three franchises straight from from Warhammer/40k but not too many complain about that. Warcraft been evolving away from that though as the storyline progression doesn't include quite so much grimdark.

Here's a trailer for a 40k game.

Think AD&D combined with years of lead exposure.   cheesy
