WTF @ craigslist prices

I know craigslist is notorious for overpriced used goods, but a quick look at the DFW ads for used 2008 Ninja 250Rs returned at least half a dozen for $4000, and even one for $5000. The Kawasaki MSRP for this bike is $3500! Maybe they have a lot of mods or something.

Oh, come on, this is the same place people try to sell used CRTs for $500.

Actually it seems the new-model Ninja 250s are actually sold out! And they are going for $4000+ all over the country, even stock. I had considered buying one new about six months ago too. Why do I never do anything that actually works out?

CL is definitely a "buyer beware" site.  I've gotten some great deals there (the $90 bike I used for a year and parted out for $140ish), but I've seen some real facepalm posts as well.

Actually it seems the new-model Ninja 250s are actually sold out!

All the low end bikes are selling for more than sticker around me, Eliminators especially.

There is a wait list for those at my local dealer.  Scooters you can forget too.

Gas prices keep going up more and more people will be moving over to bikes.

This is also exactly the same situation in the Seattle area.  But you can walk into any motorcycle dealership and have your pick of liter bikes or $ 15,000 plus Harleys.
