Don't tell me.
Put it in the original posting.
You have the technology, it's in the EDIT function.
Honestly folks, a small blurb about the attached link goes a long ways, and removes any hint of a drive-by or cut-and-paste posting style, which is considered rude at best and gets the thread deleted on other forums I've visited.
Consider it an effort to improve forum quality, and a fairly easy one to accomplish at that.
I've gotten to the point where if I see that a post is a simple link to a document or YouTube video with nothing else by way of contribution, I just blow it off. If the poster is too lazy to let us know what it is, or if it's even work-safe, then why should I be bothered looking at it?
So yeah, when somebody cuts-and-pastes a link to some article, and leaves it at that or with a simple "Discuss", then I feel there's no value added, and the mere continued existence of that posting is questionable. The same goes for a simple link to a YouTube video without a description or reason. If it was so important to link to something and hit the "Post" button, take the extra time and let us know what it is and why it's here at APS. Your readership will appreciate it.
