Hi, all. Let me give a quick background sketch.
In February 2004, working as a prison chaplain for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, I suffered a serious on-the-job injury. Two surgeries and umpteen specialists later, I've been left with a fused spine, held together with titanium straps, and permanent nerve damage in my left leg. The Federal Workers Compensation system has now decided that they want to cut my benefits in half, because according to them, I should be working half-days at least. Unfortunately, employers take one look at the restrictions imposed by my injury (particularly the nerve-damaged leg), my medical history, etc., and decline my services. My doctor has explained to WC that my situation makes it impossible . . . but they don't want to know.
It seems my only recourse is to appeal their decision, taking it up through their levels of arbitration. Lawyers are expensive, but I think it may be more expensive to do without one in this situation! I need to retain the services of a lawyer who knows the Federal Workers Comp system fairly well, and who can argue my case. Since my file's with the Dallas, TX office, I guess a lawyer in that area is probably what I need.
Does anyone know of a good lawyer in that area, experienced in Federal Workers Comp cases (which are not the same as TX or other State WC cases)? If so, please let me have his/her contact information. I'd be very grateful for your help.
