Question of my avatar
« on: December 18, 2008, 06:53:33 PM »
The avatar is the "kydex holster girl".

Here are the google results of entering same.

Warning: NSFW.

This is the rated PG-13 google results with safesearch "on".

Um, that's not bad.  Picture #2 on the google page on the other hand.................

Not that I don't dislike it, just that that picture may not be appreciated by some.

So yea, it is definitely not safe for work!!!

She's smokin hot.
BUT IF I WERE YOU I'D SKIP THE NSFW WARNING!  That second picture shows nipple and lip.  That is porn.  Not that I have a problem with it, but some might.  You should warn people.

So is the first image from a Dillon Press catalog?  That was the first thing I thought of upon seeing it.

Please don't post that link again.

I really don't know how the heck I missed that second pic. Sorry everyone.

I guess I was so focused upon the one result, I missed that other one. It might also be time to go for a prescription change at the optometrist office too.

I'll clean it up and repost the link in the original thread shortly.

You must not have kids.  Nipples showing through a wet Tshirt is not PG13.  That is R.  At least edit your post to show the correct rating.  Then there's the second picture.  The don't even show lips in R rated movies last I checked.  This isn't 4chan.

That's blocked by safesearch. And you must not be watching the right movies.

I gotta disagree.  I dunno what the movie standards are, but the human standards dictate that it ain't obscene for a woman to fail to tape her nipples down for minimum visibility at all times.  If it is, I'm guilty, anyway.

The fact that a naked woman's body will cause people's brains to esplode always amuses me, I can understand not wanting the link posted here, but comparing it to 4chan is a bit much.

So you actually agree with me that that DC's avatar is not obscene?

I understand not allowing the second pic. The first is so tame I don't understand how anybody could have a problem with it being posted here.

I went and looked at the standards. It appears that according to the MPAA the woman needs to be topless to qualify for a PG-13 rating (though it will qualify for an R rating if there's a strong sexual context to the image). There is however a variety of films that are PG-13 that show completely topless women. I could find no mention of any wet-T-shirt stuff earning an R rating.

Ohnoes, my virgin eyes are burning.  Seriously though, I always lose a little respect when a company has to resort to nudey girls to push their products.

BTW up until 20 or so years ago nudity was semi-acceptable in pg-ish movies.  Remember Romeo and Juliet?  Watched in 8th grade at Catholic school.  Boy oh boy were we giggly.

That's probably because there was no PG-13 rating till I think the 80s. So you had movies that were either R or PG. I know Barry Lyndon is PG and has toplessness.
Maybe a rare occurence, but then you only have to get murdered once to ruin your whole day.

I dunno, to me I guess the context matters.  I'm cool with using sexy women (and men) to sell things like beer or cigarettes; recreational products can fairly represent recreation in their ads.  Hot women (and men) are, for good or ill, a recreational pastime of lots of people.

When it's a hot chick using a holster, that's cool too.

But I won't even buy a Dillon press.  The hot chick clearly is neither using the press nor is a neat side benefit of using the press.  You don't meet hot women while running your press, and hot women, if they do reload, generally don't do so in an evening dress.  Those ads just gross me right out.

Seriously, the European aversion to violence in films is as ridiculous as the American aversion to sexuality in films.

In general, I think everybody should watch 'This Film Is Not Yet Rated'. While it has a serious leftist bias going, it still portrays the problem with the MPAA ratings board quite accurately.

Doesn't matter.  His "NSFW" title did not accurately portray the page that it brought up, nor did "PG13".
I don't find the female form obscene....mind you I'm the resident forum porn aficionado ;-)
But I don't come here for my porn fix.  This is a family friendly board.
It wouldn't bother me if there was an "anything goes" section, but there isn't one.  If I was a mod I'd have given you a good censuring and probably to take down the link or face a time out.  I'd probably make him change the avatar, too.
Like it or not the standard is set for this board.  It is a family friendly board.  I'm a big boy and I can go find all the porn I want with a click of the mouse.

MB just because you don't care and think that America's puritanical upbringing is silly, doesn't mean that I should have to worry about clicking a link on a family friendly board.   If my wife had been looking over my shoulder, or sweet baby xenu-forbid my children, I'd be seriously livid right now instead of seriously annoyed.

I mostly agree, but I'd be more leery of having any of my future kids watch violent stuff, instead of naked stuff.

And the MPAA movie rules.

I've been playing violent games (Doom and Resident Evil) and watching violent movies (too many to name) since I was ten years old and I turned out just fine!
But no nudity, that's just wrong.

I don't want my kids watching either.  They need a chance to mature and grow up before they are exposed willy nilly to violence or nudity.  I don't give two poops what the euroweenies do.
