Left-over egg nog

If you still have some egg nog, mix some cold coffee in with it.  It is delicious.

"Left over eggnog"?   What is this that you speak of?  In my home, eggnog is lucky if it even makes it to the fridge before being exhausted.

if the groceries are in the backseat, instead of the trunk, eggnog doesn't even make it home.

Right now I'm getting ready to try to duplicate something I had a while back and loved - eggnog ice cream.

I'm going to try first with the store bought stuff, simply placed in churn - after all, the ingredients are about right.  Eggs, sugar, milk, cream.

Oh, and to get some home I generally buy TWO cartons.  ;)

I freaking love Egg Nog.
If I knew how to make it I'd be drinking it nonstop all year long.

Actually not that difficult, depending on the recipe you choose.

I prefer store bought over most of the home made recipe's though, which is a good thing as the stores only sell it for a few months (otherwise, I'd probably have had a heart attack a couple of years ago).

Try Alton Brown's "Cooked Eggnog" recipe. It's.... amazing. Best time I ever had it was in July. People thought I was nuts, but whatever.  =D

Check out www.fooddownunder.com for lots of recipes.  In addition to searching for egg nog, run the search on rompope, the Mexican variant.

I am told, but cannot confirm, that replacing the milk with whole milk yogurt that has been drained of much of its whey (it becomes like mascarpone or cream cheese) produces a delicious custardlike dessert.
Gee, I'd love to see your data!

You guys just motivated me to make some boiled custard with bourbon.  I'll have to try the french toast idea in the morning.

Egg Nog...

Good stuff, in moderation. 1-2 cups for me, then it just starts to taste awful. A little too rich for me, I guess.

Some of the recipes/ideas are intriguing, though.

What, making eggnog coffee drinks?  Probably.  I was just pointing out that you can make a delicious beverage simply by combining cold coffee and store-bought eggnog, without all the Starbucks fuss and price.

Wow, what have you done.
I wasn't unaware of the eggnog process because I was ignorant or dumb but because I didn't want to become 400lbs.

Leftover egg nog.  Isn't that a contradiction in terms?

Apparently, I am not the only one who finds eggnog a little rich for my taste.  If it is in the fridge during the holiday season, I'll drink a small glass every day or two.  I think we have one half-carton of eggnog in the fridge right now, and one half-carton of lite eggnog.  I think that makes three cartons for the whole season.

Were it not for my wife, I probably wouldn't have any at all in my fridge.  I don't recall ever having it around the house when growing up, but I might have had it at Christmas parties from time to time.
