My original plan was to build a fireplace surround with raised hearth, but she insists that it will encroach too far into her planned living area. She pictures room layouts with certain articles of furniture, but not from plans (which would be easy to modify on paper) or even until the room is trimmed out. At which time, of course, any modification requires demo and ground-up construction on my part. If I actually react hard and fast at the first mention of such rework, she'll back off, generally with grace. Or at least minimal griping.
So I've got the plan drawn and all I have to do is index the outside location to the inside and start digging. And mixing. And pouring. And blocking. And framing. And siding. And roofing. And electric-moving. And, well, you get the idea.
