I've made my decision...

I'm leaving my current employer and not even going to seek other positions here, although there are a number of possibilities.

In essence, I'm going to take the severance package that they're offering me and live off that for awhile, if need be, and look for work at another company.

If I find work quickly, I'll simply use the severance to pay down some bills.

I have an interview on Tuesday. Wish me luck!

Good luck, Mike.  Don't burn any bridges, though.  Never a good idea to do that...you never know when a bridge comes in handy.

All the best. The last time I left a job voluntarily without a destination it was a rather rocky experience. I wish you better fortune.

I've been offline for a couple of weeks, ironically enough, starting my new job. Is there a backstory I missed?

Good luck, Mike!

(And thanks for the warning about SAIC, I was under the impression they were employee owned, and folks got vested fairly quickly)

Gew,

Vesting is typical -- 5 years.

However, with the change in CEO a couple of years ago, the writing was on the wall for a change from employee owned to publically traded.

I'm not sure that it's a good thing, and I personally don't believe that SAIC will be around in 5 years -- I think it will be snapped up.

That said, I've got my stock, and I'll ride it out.
