Hooked on non-HFCS sodas
« on: April 14, 2009, 04:16:41 PM »
I tried a mexican soda the other day at a burrito takeout place... Jarritos.  Really good stuff.  Looked at the ingredients and saw it used cane sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup.  Yum.  Bought another to take home.

Cruised the soda aisle at the store and am now a believer in Jones soda.  Also non-HFCS.  So much more smooth, no afterbite.

What other HFCS-free wonders are out there for me to discover?

I used to work for a beverage distribution co. that carried Jones. Great stuff.

Mtnbkr or Mrs. Mtnbkr found a new brand of ginger ale made by one of the breweries in Northern Virginia.

All cane sugar, and INCREDIBLY good.

I think it was from Old Dominion.

They're a local company for me, but you can purchase their products online via Amazon.com.

All of their products I've tried have been excellent.

The root beer is crap.  It cracks me up that Jones brags about using cane sugar, then ruins it by using artificial flavors.

That's why I love Jarritos!  I didn't know it lacked HFCS, I just knew it was tasty and inexpensive.  My only experience with Jones cola was a warm, flat cup on an airplane.  Perhaps I should give it another go.

I would kill for a version of Barqs that had half the sugar and no caffeine. Might have to make it myself one day.

Except I am severely sensitive to caffeine, like 10mg causes a pretty good headache. Sooo unless you want to see me knee deep in the blood of the innocent doubling the caffeine is a bad idea. Though I would give the no sugar thing a try.

When you add in that I work at the customer service desk at Wal-Mart the fun really begins.

As a question does anybody have an idea of what they use for flavoring in Barqs?

Pretty useless without either reactant or fuel.

Pepsi Throwback is supposed to be available this month, anyone seen it in stores yet?

For medical reason my wife doesn't do sugar anymore. Thus no sugary soda in the house.

I get the Mexican Coca-Cola from Costco.  It is also HFCS free.

Got me a bottle of orange Jarritos a little while back.
At first it was an odd taste...but then I realized, "oh...that's natural."

Funny....10mg of caffeine doesn't even get the sleepy out of my eyes....I'll take your share, OK?.....  =D

Yay for Mexican Coca-Cola! It tastes like Coke is supposed to taste. Lawdog made mention of it being HFCS-free and I bought some that very day.

If you live in an area with a large Jewish population, you can sometimes get real Coke during the various holidays, and I have heard tales of places with really large numbers who allegedly carry the stuff year round. Can be recognized by the yellow top.
