I got a new 10/22 stainless a couple months back. Haven't shot it yet because I've been too busy with college, but hopefully I'll be able to remedy that soon.
Anyway, I'm not very happy with the basic sights that come on it. Normally I like iron sights, but I can't stand the simple notched sights like what come on the 10/22; I prefer the "buckhorn" or "semi-buckhorn" style.
I was thinking about putting something else on it. I'm not sure I want to put a scope on it, but if I do it will likely be a low fixed power, maybe 3 or 4x. I was thinking about putting a red-dot sight on it, but I don't want to spend much. $100 is absolute upper limit, and I'd prefer to keep it closer to $60.
I'm not going to be doing any precision shooting with it, and I probably won't be shooting much past 100 yards. I figure whatever I use needs to be able to keep within the accuracy of the rifle (which I don't know yet, since I haven't shot it - may be as low as 2 moa, may be as high as 4).
The Wal-Mart here sells BSA red dots for around $50 or $60, IIRC, and the Bi-Mart sells a Tasco red dot for around $60 or $70. Are either of these any good for my application, or am I better off going with a scope?
