Craziness...
« on: May 23, 2009, 10:32:20 PM »
So, there's this auction I was watching. It's for a used Charter Arms Bulldog. It closed at $504.  Those things are $350 new at Davidsons.

Just wow...
Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.

Is it the same production though?  Charter Arms has gone through several owners over the years.  Some production years are "better" than others.

It's one of the earlier incarnations. I thought the current run was actually very decent. I have a later stainless Undercover and like it quite a bit. The addition of the ejector rod shroud was a good change.

I think it's the earlier ones that command a premium.  I'm not really up to speed on their products, so this is just what I've read in various places.

First generation Charter Arms guns, especially the .44s, do command premiums.

Second and third generation guns had lots of problems, especially with the shrouds. They were glued in place, and the glue would let loose and the shroud would either start twisting or would go flying down range.

Auction fever combined with ignorance.

Worst I personally witnessed was a FEG PA-63 that went for over $300, at a time when they were going for $99/ea at the various surplus gun vendors.

Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

It would have had to been used by him to be worth over $500.

Catch what?

I hope it's not catching.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.
