Ry Cooder/Manuel Galban

The album is called "Mambo Sinuendo", and I've been really appreciating it since I discovered it a couple weeks ago. It's essentially Cuban/latin music with somewhat of a modern, or futuristic flair... very interesting. It all depends on personal taste, but I'd definitely recommend it.

Yeesh, I'm so old that I remember a record club I belonged to in the 70's sent out albums containing tunes by new artists to induce you to buy their stuff.  Ry Cooder was on one of them.  So was Bonnie Rait.  I don't remember who else.  My kids used that album as a frisbee at some  grasser when they were in high school.  Sigh....

I watched the Buena Vista Social Club and really liked it.  Not so much for the music, which wasnt quite my taste, but the scenes of Havana and the general theme of it.  I'll mention I like SoAmerican music.

Ry Cooder also did the sound track on at least one movie:  Streets of Fire.   It's one of my favorites.  The music is great.
