New Colt Delta Elite
« on: October 10, 2009, 07:59:37 PM »
So, did anyone know that Colt starting making the Delta Elite again?

I stopped by the local today and noticed an old one on consignment that I can't afford.  I continued down the case and got to the Sig box and saw that they are making the 228 again.  That was a surprise.  So was the rail on the front.  Yuck.  Going further down the line I get to the end and the Kimber and Colt case.  At the end of the case is a brand new Colt Delta Elite.  I was shocked and overjoyed.  I can't afford one right now but at least I know I can actually buy one at a reasonable price.

Wow.  Seems like something they should have done years ago, what with the cult following for 10 mils.  Why now?  Because guns are selling so well, with a Nobel Peace Prize winner in the White House?

I did happen to notice a couple weeks ago when I was searching for a Colt. I found it listed at Bud's for $900. I can't afford to shoot 10mm right now but it's a lot of gun for the money.

Looking at the price of most pistol ammo, I can barely afford to shoot anything.

The EBR wall in this place was stocked.  The last time I was in there it was bare.  Nothing.  Nada.  I think people figure that Congress is more concerned with health care reform than guns right now and the panic buying is over...for now.

That is the first reported sighting of the new Delta Elites I have seen. They were announced at the SHOT Show in 2008.

All I need is a new slide, maybe now I can get one.

A guy I work with traded off a bunch of weapons and got one.
I haven't seen it yet, but he says he's enjoying "breaking it in".

Must...keep...focus...

The only hole in 1911 carry stable is a LtWt Commander-type.

But, a 10mm 1911 is awfully tempting...

Yup.  They've been back in production for a while.

I'd grab one, if I didn't have one of the earlier ones already.   =D

I've always wanted one. Tried to work a deal with a guy on THR.US for his Wesson 10 MM but he never responded back. Think I'd rather have a Colt anyway.

I have one of the originals. Any changes to the design, or are they producing off the original?

I think they are producing off of the original, down to the same roll marks.

"Delta", eh?

Is this in response to the new administration's mandate for "Change"?   ;/

Sort of.

The Colt Delta Elite is a blued carbon or stainless steel 1911 variant chambered in 10mm Auto.  It predates the current administration by just a few years, having been introduced in 1987.  Mine's a stainless version.

Oh.  Sorry.  I have managed to forget all my calculus in the past fourteen years.  I always thought it stood for "differential" anyway.  Which I guess is the same thing.

That's too bad, really, as mos the guys I knew who had them considered them a bit underbuilt for the 10mm.
