A&E has announced Steven Seagal Lawman, a new reality series that will follow the actor as he works as a police officer in New Orleans, will premiere with back-to-back episodes on Wednesday, December 2 at 10PM ET/PT.

Steven Seagal Lawman will document the 57-year-old as he works as a fully commissioned deputy with the Jefferson Parish County Sheriff's Office.

In addition, the series will also follow Seagal while he's off-duty, as he pursues numerous ventures including musical performances and philanthropic efforts in Jefferson Parish.

"I've been working as an officer in Jefferson Parish for two decades under most people's radar," said Seagal.

"I've decided to work with A&E on this series now because I believe it's important to show the nation all the positive work being accomplished here in the New Orleans area to see the passion, commitment and fine police work that comes from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office in this post-Katrina environment."

A&E ordered Steven Seagal Lawman last November, and the series is produced by ITV Studios and Steamroller Productions.

In August, A&E Television Networks sued Genuine Entertainment for falsely claiming that Steven Seagal Lawman's concept was stolen from Genuine by the network after a series of meetings between the two parties.

Most hollyweirdos choose things like PETA, Global Warming, and helping (D)'s get elected.  SS has been out there stuffing thieves and thugs in jail in his spare time.  Nothing but respect from me.  I'm sure the TV show is just a little hype to help get his career kick started, but I'll reserve full judgment until I see it.

This. It also explains why he's so portly. Very odd for a Hollywood action type, perfectly normal for a Southern cop. :D

Wouldn't someone famous as an actor have difficulty convincing a suspect that he's a real cop?  I mean, if some well-known actor tries to ticket or arrest someone, why wouldn't they figure he was playing a part in a skit, sort of like Tim Conway was when he had his "fashion police" schtick a while back?

Things could go bad real quick . . .

I'm sure the TV show is just a little hype to help get his career kick started resuscitated, but I'll reserve full judgment until I see it.

Fixed it for you. Seagal had a career, when he was maybe 100 pounds lighter. His last two or three movies should have been marketed as comedies, or parodies of Steven Seagal.

At least he serves his community in an honest way long before the media wanted to make a show about it. Contrast that against Spicoli and his entourage media whoring while trying to rescue people after Katrina.

AFAIK, he's actually be a deputy for some times.  They're just now making a show about it.  I'm unsure if he's had any problems so far.

First, his honorary commision is from St. Bernard's Parish, not NOPD

Second, I can find absolutely no evidence that he has a criminal record. Could you cite your accusation, please?

"His community"?

Seagal lives on a ranch in Montana. How is New Orleans "his community"?

Proof?

Of course, his movies could mostly be considered as crimes against humanity.  Someone notify the UN...
