Depends on where and when. Can run from $5 per acre per year to well north of $50.  Around my old stoming grounds you can figure about $15 for decent deer country.  Some places will charge you the acreage lease and turn you loose to do what you want.  Others will charge you a per-gun premium if you go over an agreed-to number of hunters.

All that presumes you can find a place that isn't already leased.  The hunters that lease our family place have been with us for more than 20 years.

Holy *expletive deleted*it expensive. I guess Texas just got removed from my list of places to move in a couple years. So far states with lots of BLM and US Forest Land are winning.

Charby,

Fear not.  I saw some Texas deer when I was there on Temporary Duty orders.

My dog is bigger.   =D

So I have heard.

I'm headed to Eastern Montana next fall to hunt Mule deer. Cost? Just what my tags costs and my transportation to get there and my motel/food while on the trip.

You've never been to Montana or Wyoming. Get outside of city limits and there really isn't any zoning regulations. Actually that is sort of killing Montana in ways. All the rich folks from out of state are coming in a paying *expletive deleted*it tons of money for property in the more arable areas, which raises the value of the property in a way that ranchers can't even afford to buy land to raise cattle. The folks who buy the land aren't in the state long enough during the year to pay income tax that pays for the services they use when they are using their 3 or 4th home.
