This oughta be a crime
« on: November 25, 2009, 06:19:19 PM »
Over on the Mustang forum there's this car for sale.

That paint job is criminal. The interior is a hanging offense. To top things off, the paint isn't even glossy.

I wonder what kind of beating in price the guy's going to take?

I like it.  I wouldn't want to drive it, but I like it.

Easy to find in the parking lot, right?

While I hate the color and most of the modifications, I have to admit that I like the matte paint job.

I like the color.  I also tend to like color-matched interior bits, but they must be done properly lest they look cheesy.

What is wrong with this car, IMO, is:

1.  It has too many color-matched interior bits.

2.  Plastic junk tacked on to the body.  I don't like any of that, unless it is subdued and functional.

3.  Rims are completely wrong for a muscle car.

It's a V6 undertorqued mustang... made to look like a Honda rice-racer.

Seems to me that the money on the rimz should have been spent on the car up-front, and gotten a 5.0L V8.

Uh, its a 'stang with a V6.

Why are we still talking about this?

The specs for the 4.0L V-6, according to the Ford website, are 210 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque.  That is incredibly unimpressive by today's standards.

Having owned or driven several sports cars / muscle cars, I find it much more fun to have a slightly smaller engine that I can push near its limits than a huge V-8 that I can't legally use properly.  If I lived near the Autobahn I'd have a different opinion.

But again, the six they stuff in the Mustang is anemic, especially for a roughly 3500 lb car.  =|

I know.  I'm too tired to come up with a smart-ass answer this evening, so I kept it simple.  =)

Quoting Gewehr from the pickup thread,

"340HP/340ft/lbs is nothing to sneeze at, while getting 23mpg highway at the same time."

Ford would be wise to squeeze that new Ecoboost V6 into the Mustang next year.

[Microbalrog]No, it shouldn't be a crime.  The car belongs to this individual.  He/she has a perfect right to paint his car in any color of their choice.

Just remember there is no oppresion. [/mb]

Is "Eleanor body kit" named after the Eleanor in Gone in Sixty Seconds?  If so, is it the original or the re-make?

Then there is the existential question:
"Is it truly a Mustang if it has fewer than eight cylinders?"

not really
It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

"The New Ford Gelding"

That would have been a better name for the godawful Mustang II from the mid 70's.

Nope. And having it so close to Milwaukee makes me nervous. I'm afraid that whatever that car has may be contagious.
