Bin Laden Blames U.S. for Global Warming in New Tape

Oct. 7, 2001: Usama bin Laden is seen at an undisclosed location.

CAIRO  —  Al Qaeda leader Usama bin Laden has called in a new audiotape for the world to boycott American goods and the U.S. dollar, blaming the United States and other industrialized countries for global warming.

In the tape, aired in part on Al-Jazeera television Friday, bin Laden warns of the dangers of climate change and says that the way to stop it is to bring "the wheels of the American economy" to a halt.

He says the world should "stop consuming American products" and "refrain from using the dollar," according to a transcript on Al-Jazeera's Web site.

The new message, whose authenticity could not immediately be confirmed, comes after a bin Laden tape released last week in which he endorsed a failed attempt to blow up an American airliner on Christmas Day.




Okay seriously....This guy wants to kill us and he is concerned about the environment, I know there are eco-terrorists but come on.  He must be getting desperate to reach more followers.  I would hate to think if Chavez and Bin Laden team up for a gripe fest about the USA.

Both spellings have been in use for a while now, it's just that Osama is more common. At least in America.

Cool. He took the bait. The 'experts' (from Langley?) claimed that his last tape might not be authentic, it might've been pieced together from other tapes. So he comes out with another tape to prove he's still around.

Yes, I remember that and had a very happy LOL moment when I read about it. My pet plan involves getting Anderson Cooper in surgery for something routine, implanting a bomb in him without his knowledge, and them waiting for him to get that exclusive OBL interview. I think we'd kill two birds with one stone if we used Geraldo, but I sure OBL has standards and wouldn't talk to the guy.
