Anyone know where this came from?  Only place I had heard it was on THe Man Show but in Mail Call tonight there were some green beret trainees saying it at the end of a session.  I did a websearch and could only come up with decent source (below) and it calls it a drinking song "popularized" by the Man Show, but does not mention it's true origins.  It is possible, of course, that this is the origin, I just can't help thinking that it must have come from somehwere else.

I first heard it on TMS however I later heard that it was a chant for people chugging a large glass of beer.

The servers at the Hoffbrau Haus were chanting it every now & then for someone chugging a beer.  Of course that could have been marketing to sell more beer :shrug: .

I heard he passed away before the show series ended.

It's a German thing.  I remember it from Octoberfest in Munich and also local German restaurants.
