Do people not know this? =|

I was a copy center manager, I wiped the HDD regularly because it is, indeed holding all sorts of SS cards, birth certificates, DLs, etc.  =(

I didn't, but then, I don't use copy machines on a regular basis either.

I didn't know this and apparently some 60% of people don't either.  I have never been a copy center manager, nor have I worked in any capacity where I needed to read the manual or be able to do more than pretty basic stuff.

It's why I giggle every time I have NFA paperwork copied. Imagine some ID theft guy getting hold of THOSE documents...

Same here.  Generally if I need something copied, I use a scanner.  Takes a little longer (unless it's a scanner/printer which can act like a copier), but I usually don't have to pay money to do it that way...

I go to the local monastery to have my ID-critical stuff copied.  For a small flask of good peach brandy as a little extra, they'll even illuminate it for me.

For a somewhat larger flask, they'll forget they ever saw it.

Why does a copier NEED a HD though? Wouldn't storing the image in ram simply suffice?

This is true.

However, I think it would be a simple thing to set the copier up to automatically wipe the image from the HD after complete.
That is all. *expletive deleted*ck you all, eat *expletive deleted*it, and die in a fire. I have considered writing here a long parting section dedicated to each poster, but I have decided, at length, against it. *expletive deleted*ck you all and Hail Satan.

They used to - customers complained. Not customers as in individual customers at copy centers, but companies that bought the machines.

Why? Something to do with tracking down people for copyright infringement or something?
