Finally Got Flash Blocker for Firefox, Again
« on: June 18, 2010, 12:32:35 AM »
I did so after I upgraded Flash from whatever to the latest.  All it did was increase Flash's nagging ability and obnoxiousness beyond what I could tolerate.

Maybe Jobs has the right idea, after all.

I have a flash blocker as well: Firefox 64bit. :)

I have to keep IE32 around for those sites I need to access, but which put their content in flash.  [barf]

Believe me, it's not often I get to say this: works fine in Linux :P

I've not tried Flash Blocker but I do use NoScript which blocks flash and javascript among other things. I love it and its pretty easy to allow the bare minimum for most sites to function(on a site by site basis).

Huh.  I had looked for an x64 Firefox, but did not see it mentioned on their web site.  Just found it with some Googling though.  I will see how I likes it.

I do believe Adobe killed the 64bit linux version of Flash recently.

Did not know about x64 Firefox till now. Hokey smokes am I imagining things, or is it blazingly fast?

It's faster for me, even though my motherboard limits me to about 3.5 GB.  I had already started using K-Meleon for Flash-type stuff (streaming content), so I could get used to this.

Seems to make Hulu/Pandora run lighter in the K-Meleon browser, too.   ???

Hmm. I installed last night and got a security update notice this morning. When I tried to install, I got a "you do not have privileges" message. Anyone else run into this? I suppose the workaround is to just get the latest build off the website, unless there's a setting somewhere in the Beta that I can change.

Security update from where?  From Microsoft?  From your anti-virus?

I'd like to use the 64-bit and 32-bit Firefox side by side, but the Namoroka has replaced it.   =(

Not exactly.  They closed the 10.1 beta for Linux for "architectural changes," but you can still download it, install it, etc as usual.  Sounds like they plan on re-doing it from scratch and don't want to deal with running a beta at the same time.
