Newborn outfit
« on: February 11, 2006, 08:17:14 PM »
As I mentioned in another thread here a few weeks ago, my wife and I are expecting a son in late May.  The name (and circumcision) issue is still a ways from resolution, but I need some help in another area.

I want to get a newborn size military style flight suit or a car racing suit (a la Formula 1, CART, etc style - real nomex a big plus) as the "coming home" outfit for the boy.  I've found some places that sell toddler size and up in that sort of thing, but nothing for infants, nevermind newborns.  Anyone else figured this out yet for their kids?

LOL... first kid?  Tongue

I'd say a newborn size flight suit might be a tall order. How 'bout a cammie diaper...

Motocross ones here:  http://www.dirtwerkz.com/Pages/smooth/onejam02.htm

Nascar style (ages 2+) here: http://www.usillygoose.com/racardrsu.html

Checkered flag stuff here:  http://www.cruisekids.com/village_inf.html

Etc, etc, etc..........

You could call up Simpson.  http://www.simpsonraceproducts.com/  They'd make one up, but it probably wouldn't be real cheap.
They also market a line of Grayco car seats: http://www.simpsonraceproducts.com/products/product_detail.aspx?cat_id=342&prod_id=6357

Sumpnz, if you ever want to have the potential for another child with your wife Smiley, you might want to get a going home outfit that she will think is cute rather than one you would normally pick out.  Trust me...

As others have said, you might have a lot of trouble finding something like that for a newborn.

Maybe you should focus on more pressing matters, like his first gun.

She seemed to think it would be cute, especially if it had a name tag that we could embroider.  Maybe not her first choice in outfits, but not objectionable either.

I didn't post here until spending a while on Google.

We had a really cute white dress with out daughter's name embroidered (in purple) across the chest for her coming home outfit.  We wanted something that would make for a good keepsake for our boy as well.

By the way...with apologies to Devo:

You must snip it.
Just Snip it.  Snip it good.

My Rebbe, Matis, told me to tell you that.

Oh, and a name?

Here's the short list:
Otis
Roscoe
Elmer
Rufus
Leon
Angus
Seamus.

Let me know which one you choose.

Love,
Uncle Fig

You a Subaru WRC fan?  It's not nomex and it's not exactly for newborns but it comes with a couple other things.

Dannyboy - I like rally cars, but don't really follow it.  Those PJ's sure are cute though.  I may have to buy a set and save it until he's a bit older.

280 - For the coming home outfit we are insisting that it be new.  All other's are usually secondhand, but being such a keepsake we figure it's worth the splurge.

Infant:  A small creature with a lot of noise at one end and a complete lack of responsibility at the other.

Be that as it may, Art, how else do you propose I get a decades long hunting and fishing partner?

Before my daughter was concieved I thought I'd be fine with never having kids, and that if I did that I'd be well over 30 before any came along.  26 was the magic number there.  Now, of course, I wouldn't turn back the clock and change things in that respect even if I could.

Aw, it's just those first years of no sleep and diaper changing.  It gets better. Smiley  BTDT.  Get'em into the outdoor stuff pretty early, and it makes the dating/car/teen-rebellion years easier.

The nice thing for grandparents and ankle-biters is that you can play with them, and when they start to smell bad, give'em back. Cheesy
