Feds to Enforce Fingerprint Identification Database
« on: July 28, 2010, 10:57:34 PM »
Rather ironic after today's Arizona ruling. Ask someone suspected of being in the country illegally to show ID? How dare you! Require a fingerprint database of Mortgage Brokers? Well of course! As long as you're not doing anything wrong, what have you got to worry about?

Do you have any idea how many Al Queda members sneak into this country disguised as mortgage brokers?

Out of sick fascination with train wrecks, what is their stated intention or justification?

My fingerprint privacy was forfeit long ago.  I clock in at work via right thumb print, even.

I agree; what 'problem' is this intended to solve?   ???

I can understand licensing them, I can understand shipping quite a few to jail for fraud, forgery, counterfeiting, etc...  But what's fingerprints going to do?

As per the CNBC article linked from the Malkin article, well... they never really say as far as I can tell. Vague hints of "for your safety" and "because those are the rules of the new S.A.F.E. act, so there!"

Interesting that the article mentions "it has thinned the ranks of mortgage brokers". It being both the fingerprints and some new test they have to apparently take to be certified. As mentioned above, there should be some standard to weed out crooks, but I suspect the real crooks are smart enough to get past the tests.

So...if you get laid off, do they get to keep the thumb?....
