Seriously, they say they persued the matter with the sole intent of finding out if the Governor had received "favors" in getting his CCW.
Then, they say that the ":just want to check and see" that nobody else has gotten a CCW without jumping through all the hoops in the correct order.
Then, they say they have no intent of publishing the accumulated aggregated data everybody seems to think the have in a database they never deny having.
And then, some naieve calling herself "Research Analyst" asks some rather intelligent questions that eventually get some serious and cogent responses detailing the amount of personal identifying information that is contained in the material that the newspaper never denies having but asserts it never intends to publish.
Meanwhile, everybody else is off speculating on all the bad actors out there who will be perusing the list and cross-referencing it to select/avoid places to burgle/people to rob, and how the antis will be comparing names on the list against HR records and names of parents of their kids' friends to decice if Johnny/Jane can go play at Billy's house any more. And other nefarious deeds too evil for even me to contemplate.
So - is this a preemptive crucifixion? Or is there a record of the birdcage liner doing other dastardly deeds with public record info? (I'm not sure that merely publishing a list of every county employee qualifies as a dastatrdly deed or not. I'd want to know some background of what prompted them to do so, and what if any negative impact doing so created (such as, did the county keep a cadre of professional snitches on the payroll?).
stay safe.
