Israel in the news

I found this article very interesting:
http://pajamasmedia.com/michaeltotten/2010/08/04/the-greatest-collection-of-nightmares-on-earth/

Especially this part:

Quote
[...] I have to say, though, that when foreign governments say Israel has to make concessions and take responsibility for the conflict, Israelis take it all very seriously. The charge of disproportionality during Operation Cast Lead in Gaza, the Goldstone Report—Israelis do not take into consideration the possibility that these may just be gestures. Israelis take it personally, and they become very angry. Israelis feel very strongly that the world is against them.

MJT: Why do you suppose that is?

Benjamin Kerstein: Most Israelis are here because they fled from Muslim and European countries. They don’t feel that either of those blocs have the right to lecture them about anything. Why should a country where your parents were expelled or killed have the right to tell you how to conduct yourself in a war against people who are trying to kill you today? This is something hardly any non-Israelis understand. They don’t understand how galling we find this. [...]

I never thought of the all the nasty statements made against Israel in that light. But when I read this, it resonated with me very deeply for some reason.
I’m not saying I invented the turtleneck. But I was the first person to realize its potential as a tactical garment. The tactical turtleneck! The… tactleneck!

This is very true - to the point that people aren't willing to take even serious and constructive criticism because it's swallowed up in the avalanche of ISRAEL IS OPPRESSIVE APPARTHEID foolishness that's coming from abroad.

A good example was this flotilla. Nobody was interested in listening about actual errors the Navy made - everybody was talking about how the foreign media was being self-righteous and unfair - which it was. There were protests in support of thE Navy, and  several groups paid good money to have billboards put out to support it. There were even ad campaigns capitalizing on this sentiment.

I understand full well.  I have always supported Israel's right to exist.   I admire the Jewish people  probably because I am a Christian and understand the Scriptures and the place the Jews have in biblical reality and prophesy.
