http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/lt_drug_war_mexicoI don't think more than a day (if that) goes by that more people haven't been found murdered (often as a result of unfortunate methods), shootings are reported, streets/neighborhoods shut down, and threats delivered. And now car bombs.
The drug cartels don't care about any authority within Mexico. And they have a great interest in crossing our borders more often, and more easily (which Obama will cater to, wittingly or unwittingly), as well as setting up more permanent fixtures here.
I'm hearing where troops may end up, what for, what we have to gain from it, etc. The more I hear, the more going into Mexico and completely obliterating their drug cartels makes sense. Mexico just can't handle it, and we're the next stop. The next station, even. Why try to out-wait a tactical war of attrition? We'll wake up and find out that it's far too late to target these drug cartels as a result of our acceptance of illegal immigrants.
So, from the article:
- 75 murdered migrants are discovered
- drug cartels heavily suspected (Zetas has been identified by the lone survivor)
- the prosecutor investigating the murders has disappeared
- two car bombs go off within an hour of each other (at a police station and media station, knocking out their signal)
So now:
- the death toll is officially pushing 30,000 confirmed drug-related murders since late 2006
- 80% are being claimed to stem from 7 conflicts
- the drug cartels are using established war tactics
And as we all know:
- self-defense is frowned upon in Mexico
And
all of that is par for the course.
