I enjoyed Ishmael. The book was given to me by someone I perceived as a role model back then and it still carries personal significance even though that person I no longer consider a role model.
Then again, I read it when I was in High School and a pretty strong liberal back then. Maybe I just remember the enjoyment of the book rather than the content. It was highly anti-industrial, which I am not anymore. Gimme guns, trucks, electronics and nifty machinery. Lots of 'em. Just pick up afterwards when you're done making 'em.
Ishmael's ideas got tossed out the window after about page 200 of Atlas Shrugged.
