Poverty Rate highest since 1994...
« on: September 16, 2010, 01:17:20 PM »
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/17/us/17poverty.html

U.S. poverty rate just rose to 14.3%, the highest it has been since 1994.

Hmm... I wonder what else correlates with 1994 and changed recently... Hmmmmm....

If BHO were a Republican, we'd see 1001 stories about homelessness in the MSM.

When you've been importing poverty for 25 years, per government policy, you get results.

When you encourage outsourcing for at least two generations, per government policy, ditto.

Correlation doesn't not always mean causation.  :police:

One could also argue that 2010 and 1994 were both merely two years after Republican administrations, and such things as poverty rates are likely to trail behind policy changes etc.

But with two data points one shouldn't.

Of course it doesn't. That is why I used correlation. ;)

One can, but markets are forward looking.

The graph in the article is interesting. Pretty high in the early 80s too. The substantial decline was under Clinton, it's been mostly rising since.

LBJ's "Great Society" programs - expanded by his successors - were to end poverty in a generation. That was the promise, and trillions of taxpayer dollars were spent.

Seeing as the promise was broken, where can I go to get a refund of my share of those trillions?

Did anybody notice the poverty rate trend from 1960-1970?

And how the trend changes after the War on Poverty begins?

When you've been importing poverty for 25 years, per government policy, you get results.

It has been 45 years since the 1964 Immigration Act.

We have succeeded in importing lots of poverty into America.

Lost... without a single shot fired on our part.

Imagine if we went out hunting poor people.  We would have cleaned up, and there wouldn't be anybody claiming to be poor in the country! =D
