Bargain at Best Buy
« on: December 18, 2010, 10:43:17 PM »

Just picked up a set of DVDs:  20 Spaghetti Westerns (32 hours' worth) for five bucks.

At this price, one is not getting any of the well known films: nothing by Sergio Leone, or his cousin, or his cousin's wife's nephew's hairdresser.  But it does include Death Rides a Horse, God's Gun, Gunfight at Red Sands, and the Warren Oates classic China 9, Liberty 37 (yeah, I hadn't heard of it either).

When I showed the set to my wife, she groaned.  Loudly.

China 9, Liberty 37: Hey, it's got Sam Peckinpah as Wilbur Olsen in it !!!

God's Gun: IIRC, this one's pretty good: (It's got Leif Garrret in it !!) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074575/

Death Rides a Horse:  Lee Van Cleef is bad/good guy !!!

Gunfight at Red Sands is in color !!

Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.

Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Not a spaghetti western (or even a spaghetti space western), but Target has Castle: Season One at 16.99. In the store, or on the web.

Nathan Fillion is reason enough to check that out, I suppose, although Mad Men might win out in a price battle just for YoSafBridge.

Oh, I'm SO there!  Thanks for the heads-up, the wife and I are fans of that series.
