motorcycle road race trivia question
« on: January 07, 2011, 08:38:47 AM »
20 some years ago there was a guy who wanted to make his own motorcycle.  He was a gifted engineer who had some good ideas about how to make it better than what was available.  He made his own frame and even cast his own engine cases.  The machine was fast right from the start and the man was well respected by other racers for his innovation and craftsmanship.

But I can't remember his name.  I remember he died young from cancer or something like that, and I believe he was from Australia.  The people here always amaze me with their vast store of arcane information, can anybody remember the name?

the bike is at the barber motorsports museum. A MARVEL of motorcycle engineering, especially considering it was just him
