Charter school legislative session tomorrow
« on: January 13, 2011, 05:07:29 AM »
Not quite sure what to say other than kiddo is doing very well there, she likes it, etc.
They score percentiles beyond schools in the district as far as standardized tests. And it's one of the first schools on the chopping block due to economic setback.  What sense does that make?
Anyway, I need something pat to say...
How do I tell the school board budget folks that Charter schools are worth the funding?

Got the shoes and socks. Shoes, grey dockers and a white Polo shirt / knit tie?

I have a jacket but it is for summer. Don't really want to spring for a white shirt /black pants / jacket but I'm thinking that might be a good idea.

You assume that the school district, administrators, and teachers' unions have the goal of educating your children.  If, OTOH, you assume their goal is to stay employed at the highest level of salary/perks while doing the least amount of actual education, it makes perfect sense.

Good luck.

Try to look spiffy.

Since you asked, forget the tie.  Get the dress shirt (white) and navy jacket.  Wear the grey Dockers, of khakis.  More bang for your buck, and dressy enough to not be ignored at a public meeting.  Ties are becoming less and less important it seems, outside of a courthouse.

As for the statement, stick to a results based argument.  Look at the test results, which explain why the schools are worth funding.

In my experience fighting with the school board and superintendent, test results are all that matters what gets their attention..
