In that first post, I said that hatred is action, not motivation; so I was very clearly positing a difference between motivation and action.
In my second post, I agreed that I have a tendency to over-state my point about the practical components of love and hate; and that hatred can include motivation, emotion, and action (which it does, even if your dictionary doesn't understand that).
So, no, I certainly have not claimed that action is the same as motivation. Quite the reverse.
But let's go to the Founders for a minute.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
They appeared to believe, and I agree with them, that constant abuse is an acceptable basis by which to judge motivation. It may not be proof-positive, but it is not without meaning.
With leftists (including Obama) we have more to go by than just action. Their words are often quite damning.
