http://cnsnews.com/news/article/debt-jumped-72-billion-same-day-house-vo

So, in a knock-down, drag-out fight over the budget, the Tea Party Congress cuts $6 Billion today.

The deficit grew by $72 Billion today.

It will grow by $72 Billion tomorrow.  And the day after.  And the day after.

A government shut-down and full frontal assault by the House is the only hope we have.  2012 is too late.  By 2015 that $14 Trillion dollar debt will be $22 Trillion.  In 3 years, we'll gain $8 Trillion more debt.  That's $2.6 Trillion a year.

We are BORROWING $2.6 Trillion dollars a year.

The whole freaking budget is only around $4 Trillion.

We're running 60% or more of our government off the charity of the rest of the world indentured servitude of our unborn.
"But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist."
--Lysander Spooner

Not to worry.  We'll just get the Fed to speed up the presses to make $2.6 Tril more a year.  Actually, if they make $3.6 Tril more per year, we can have a budget of $5 Tril and solve all our problems.

Worrywart!

The only problem with that plan is a loaf of bread will cost $5billion.

Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

[leftist]What problem would that be? We'll just have a government program for food distribution for everybody![/leftist]

If I may borrow a phrase from the avatar above me:

"We're boned."
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Makes the republican leadership look chumpish.  Assuming Boehner et al learned anything the next go'round will be a little different.  It is clear establishment republicans do not have the tea party religion.  It will be interesting to see who prevails.

It's amazing to me that anyone thought things would really change after the last election.

Get used to the notion that, as a nation, we are humped.  Truly humped.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.
