Nato lacking strike aircraft for Libya campaign

What a sad state of affairs.  Our NATO allies can't even take out a 4th-rate power like Kadaffy Duck.

"David Cameron has pledged four more British Tornado jets on top of eight already being used for the air strikes."

"...the French are not only taking part in the Nato campaign, but are the biggest non-US contributors, with 33 aircraft, double Britain's 17. Not all of these are strike aircraft.

Until Monday, the Americans had performed most of the attacks on ground targets, with the French executing around a quarter and the British around a 10th. "

Boys, if you wanna play in the bigs, you gotta bring your game.

Can't they find an old Sopwith Camel and just toss bombs out the cockpit like they did in WW1? [tinfoil] [popcorn]

Maybe they should just go get that Russian Antonov 225. Load it up with half a million pounds of scrap metal and dump it at 30k feet.
Should do enough damage. Or how about half a million pounds of ball bearings? Thats what I would consider a big game load.  :O

Just noticed that a mod changed my signature. How long ago was that?

I was thinking more along the lines of the old AD-6 Skyraider. I know it's not a glamourous jet or anything, but it was an awesome close-air support plane during the Nam era, and I'm sure that it would do well in some of the current engageents we're playing in...

A-10's, but you need a base fairly close by....

Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.
