Wifey bought me one of these as an anniversary gift. Seems pretty nice. Anyone heard of them?

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Only works in London, though.

Stanley left it there when he went to look for Livingstone.

Shiny.

OK, the name is "Stanley London" . . . but is there any indication of where it's actually made?

For the fastest response time, please e-mail us with any questions regarding your order at sales@stanleylondon.com

Otherwise, you can write to us to request a catalog or return merchandise at the following address:

Stanley London
4091 E. La Palma Ave.  Suite G
Anaheim, CA 92807
U.S.A.

However, the Union Jack is displayed on a lot of their pages.

I got several of their 1/2" compasses once (from a local supplier) as stocking stuffers.

1/2"

Listing:
http://www.stanleylondon.com/smcomp.htm

I didn't see their 1" aluminum compass on there any more.  I got one on which I mounted on a piece of white cardboard with the legend "Terry's Moral Compass" and had it in my office for a while.

Which led inevitably to the question of whether the compass was moral, or Terry.

That question remains unresolved.

I guess I'm not overly concerned with where they make 'em or where they sell 'em from. The CA address could be a US distributor for a London-based firm, or just the front office of some company that gets its stuff made in Pakistan.

That compass has a mirror attached to the inside of the lid.
They put it there to show you who's lost.

I know. I have one like this:

I was saying that my new brass monstrosity weighs half a pound. I have to admit, though, it's more practical when you consider it as a melee weapon. She should have ordered a chain for it.  =)

This is my compass than goes with me anywhere I go if I may get lost.

Pretty hard to get lost in Iowa since very few parts of the state don't have roads every mile.

We had a hunter get lost on a fenced square mile of state land.

He ended up six miles away at somebody's ranch house.
