Break it for parts, save pennies or if a new engine is a pittance replace it and sell it.
You don't say what is wrong with the engine, have you thought of fixing it yourself with secondhand parts etc? If it proves unfixable then you just resell any parts you bought and you've just learnt a bit more about how engines go together. If it works you're riding a bike that is running because of your wielding of the "ratchet of power". A pleasure in and of itself.
Chris is trying to lead you to the dark side of the force with his mentions of cruisers, beware, he will lead you down the path of different polishing cloths for different parts of the bike and leave you with a mind corrupted by the polish fumes(which would explain why Harleys still sell).
