I've always assumed that the countryside's lower per-capita crime rate was tempered by response times, isolation, a lack of witnesses etc.

My experience around a small town is the same stuff happens, but either no one knows or everyone knows.

They're not saying much yet except that a 47 yo has been arrested in Williston ND and a 22 yo in Rapid City SD.
