I recently bought a SIG 226 so I figured I might join up at SIGforums.com.  Unfortunately, it won't let me register.  It says that my email is banned.  I am confused about that.  I have never been on SIGforums so I haven't done anything to be banned.  I have never been banned on any forum for any reason.  It does say on the registration form that Hotmail and Yahoo addresses aren't allowed, but I'm with AOL (yeah, I know, but I've had them for years and I don't want to make sure everyone I know is notified that my email address is changed) and they don't have anything posted to suggest a problem with AOL.  I've tried with some of the sub-account email's I have on AOL as well and all are banned.  I'm very confused.  Since Hotmail and Yahoo mail are banned I can't open an easy web-based account to open a membership.

I wanted to contact the administrators to find out what is going on and to see if it can be fixed, but there is no contact info on the site.  To get the contact info for a moderator or administrator through their profiles you have to be logged in as a member.  So, I'm pretty much frozen out for no apparent reason and with absolutely no recourse.  

Can anyone here help me?  Are AOL addresses banned there, even though they don't state that and do state that others are?  Can someone think of another web-based free email service other than Hotmail and Yahoo Mail that I could sign up with?  All the other services I used to know about have since been bought out by Yahoo or Hotmail.  Can you get me the contact info for someone there who I can email and find out what the problem is?  Are you a mod or administrator there who can do one better and help me out here?

I'm actually pretty annoyed about this situation since I've never done anything on any forum to be banned, I've never even been a member there, and there seems to be nothing set up there to rectify such problems!  If it didn't look like a pretty good forum for SIGs and if I didn't just buy a SIG I'd probably be annoyed enough to not want to have anything to do with them.

About email: Free email accounts, such as Yahoo and Hotmail, are automatically banned and not allowed for registration in an attempt to reduce the nomber of trolls registering. I believe (I'm not certain thought) that they've had trouble with AOL email addresses too, so an AOL email address doesn't work for registration either.

You can email the webmaster/mod Parabellum (or you might get lbj)  at Sigforum at: webmaster@sigforum.com and see if you can get your issue resolved.

Let us know if you get it worked out.

Opps, apparently there is a sigforum.com and a sigforums.com.

Sigforum.com is the bigger one (it seems) and the one where I've tried unsuccessfully to register.  I just looked at sigforums.com for the first time just now.

So, can anyone help me with sigforum.com (no 's' after the word forum).

I gave you the info for sigforum.com (no 's'). Ha, I just re-read your first post and totally skipped over the 's' at the end of Sigforums. Seeing as I never do anything at Sigforums but do lurk a lot at Sigforum I read your first post as sigforum, not sigforums. I'm not registered and never read sigforums.com (even though ( knew it existed).

So, I guess I accidentally gave you the right info the first time!

Hmm, still no reply to my email and its getting to have been a little while.  Not even a "sorry, we can't help you" response.  Just being ignored.  I was already pretty annoyed with them, this isn't helping.  Even if I do get a response now I'm not sure I even want to bother with that forum, even though it looks like a decent forum.

I'm not sure at this point if I even want to bother with that forum anymore.  Sure, it seems to have some pretty good info, but...

Now, if I change my mind, I may just have my parents set up a user name for me on their web account (like most theirs allows several user names) and use that email.  He hasn't banned Comcast has he?

Don't know about Comcast. I registered over there with an SBC account email address.

I sent you an e-mail a while back about how to get registered , as opposed to many forums that will bend to the will of the people , Para (who runs S&W , SIG and Ruger forums ) is a bit of a hardass. An AOLer was causing all kinds of headaches , AOL is anti gun anyway so bye bye AOL. No discussion needed, his forum his rule , though his no BS attitude makes for a well behaved forum which I enjoy.

Casey, thank you too.  I'm sorry that I was rude and forgot to thank you.

Maybe I should use that oversight and grant Para one more chance and email him again.  I forgot to email you after you emailed me.  I read it but was too busy to reply, then some time went by and I forgot.  Hopefully that is what happened with Para.

I was pretty annoyed simply that as someone who never caused trouble on his or any other forum (and I'm a member at his forums too- S&W and Ruger) I got a message that my email was banned when I tried to register.  I'm sure everyone can acknowlege that they'd be annoyed and confused about that situation.  Then there seemed to be no contact info to address issues.  That alone had me already near annoyed enough to forget about the place.  And yes, I recognize that he has a right to do whatever on his own forum- he can make a rule that only people born in January can join if he wants to.  That still doesn't make arbitrary rules that affect you any less annoying, especially when they are unstated rules (he does state that hotmail and yahoo mail are banned).  But what had me really annoyed was him ignoring my email- no email even saying sorry but no AOL or whatever, just ignoring me.  Though after forgetting about your email maybe I should give him one more chance and email one more time before deciding he can go where he can go.
