Tornadoes cause massive damage across DFW and North Texas

Quote
At least two large twisters ripped across the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area Tuesday afternoon, crushing homes, flipping trucks and sending thousands of North Texans scrambling to take cover.

Reports of minor injuries were reported. At one point, the National Weather Service declared counties in Dallas-Fort Worth to be under a "tornado emergency." By 3:15 p.m. CT, most of the warnings were focused north and east of downtown Dallas.

I hope and pray that any of our APS brothers and sisters in this area, and their families, are safe.

Kiddos were in school at the time.  Spent the worst of it in the school's tornado shelters (AKA, boys' & girls' bathrooms).

Drudge has some flying semi-trailer video that is mighty impressive:

My folks are on travel and pulled over in Terrell, East of DFW.  I told them to sit tight until it passed them over.

DFW got hailed on pretty good. AA cancelled all of their departures out of there tonight.

Was watching on CNN as one of the tornadoes went over a Schneider National lot and was picking up semi trailers 100 plus feet into the air.

I live east of Fort Worth and nothing happened here but some rain.  Wife said they had hail at work but she did not see any damage to the truck.  My camp in east Texas is about to be hit.  I hope there is no hail in it.....chris3

I wouldn't call it "massive," but it was exciting.  Some nasty damage in places, but no serious injuries reported so far.

The black sky with the first round was a bit unnerving.  Luckily nothing worse happened at the office, and we only got .5" of rain and a lot of noise at the house.  The dogs did get kinda freaked out, though.

The semi trailer flipping in the air was pretty awesome.

Diamond Creek subdivision, behind Walmart in Forney has damage.  North Forney HS has some damage, unknown how much.

A friend called and my house is still standing but it's south of Forney proper.

I got an email from my friend. They are all alright with no damage.

Hope everyone here came out as well.

We had several locals shopping in Joplin last year when that one hit. One of them didn't make it home.

Any facilities damaged?

Nothing dangerous at my house, but that truck yard that got hit is just a couple of miles from work. I'm about 30 miles south of Forney. Was amused to see the wife putting on her makeup this afternoon in case we got killed by a tornado. (Shrug) Texas women. Watcha gonna do? It did occur to me that someone clever could make a gun control metaphor out of that.

Not sure.  I am out of state at the moment.  For some reason my flight to DFW was cancelled yesterday afternoon.

If there was hail in the neighborhood, I'll get an insurance inspector to take a gander at the roof.

Where was it in relationship to Forney before the tornado?

A 737 weighs more than a semi-trailer and it flies at about 130 kts

Sat through an alert at work (west Dallas) but no real excitement.

Emailed an old work buddy of mine who retired to the Dallas area . . . he's actually up around Denton, and is fine; the nasty stuff was about 30 miles south of him.

Some of that was supposed to hit us here in Stephenville, but all we got was some rain.
