Police Chief Killed Four Days From Retirement

This is a sad story from the side of the police chief, and my condolences to his family. What drew me away from the headline however, was:

Gov. John Lynch arrived at the scene late Thursday night to oversee the operation, the Herald reported.

Why would a Governor oversee a drug bust, especially one involving one (maybe two) suspects? There seems to be a lot missing from the story.

I would imagine that the Governor arrived after the police officers were shot, to show his support.  Especially in a small state like New Hampshire.

I have read other stories in the media that make it clear that the Governor arrived at Portsmouth Hospital after the officers were shot.

I'm just going to chalk this one up to media inaccuracy (never mind that this is the only level of accuracy they know...)
